Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and how to get it deleted.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
This policy covers 1600satlab.com and everything we do with personal data when you buy a product, request the free sample pack, or contact support. 1600 SAT Lab is the data controller. Our business identity and postal address are on the terms of service page and in the footer of every page.
1. What we collect
- Name and email address. Given by you at checkout, or by you in the email form for the free sample pack.
- Purchase information. Order number, product bought, purchase date, and the buyer ID we generate. Paddle also supplies us with the country associated with the transaction for tax purposes.
- Support correspondence. Whatever you write to us, and our replies.
- Basic analytics. Aggregate, non-identifying measurement of page views and which links and buttons are used. See section 4.
We do not collect date of birth, school, test scores, or any other study data. We never ask for them.
2. How we use it
- To deliver what you bought. Your email address is how the files reach you.
- To watermark each PDF. Every delivered PDF carries your name, email address, order number and buyer ID in the page footer and in the PDF metadata. This is disclosed in section 5 of the terms and exists solely to enforce the single-user licence.
- To deliver the free sample pack to the address you submit.
- To answer support requests and to re-send files when delivery fails.
- To send marketing email about new tests and material — only if you opted in, and only until you unsubscribe.
- To improve the site and the material using aggregate analytics, never by singling out an individual reader.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (delivery, support, watermarking as a licence condition), consent (sample pack and marketing email, withdrawable at any time), and legitimate interests (aggregate analytics, protecting our material against redistribution).
3. Email — MailerLite
Our email list and campaigns run on MailerLite, which acts as our processor. The name and email address you submit are stored there so that the sample pack and any marketing email you opted into can be sent. MailerLite processes that data on our instructions and does not use it for its own purposes.
4. Analytics — Google Analytics 4
The site is built to use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate traffic measurement.
Current state: no GA4 measurement ID is configured, so no analytics tag is loaded on any page of this site and no analytics data is being collected or sent to Google. The measurement script only ever loads once a real measurement ID is set. This section describes what will happen when it is, and this page will be updated on the day that changes.
When analytics is active, it records page views, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and interaction events such as clicking a purchase button or submitting the sample form. It does not receive your name, your email address or your order number.
5. Payment — Paddle, our Merchant of Record
Checkout is handled by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd). Paddle is our Merchant of Record, which means Paddle — not 1600 SAT Lab — is the legal seller on your transaction. Paddle takes your payment, issues your receipt, and collects and remits any VAT or sales tax your country requires. Your card or bank statement will show Paddle, not 1600 SAT Lab.
1600 SAT Lab never sees or stores full card details. No card number, expiry date or security code ever reaches us or this site. What we receive from Paddle is the buyer's name, email address and order information needed to deliver and support the purchase. Paddle handles your payment data under its own privacy policy as an independent controller for that processing.
6. What we never do
We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not rent, trade or share it for anyone else's marketing. There is no advertising network on this site, and no third-party advertising or profiling cookie is set.
We disclose personal data only to the processors named above, and where we are legally required to do so.
7. International transfers
We operate from the Republic of Korea, and the processors named above operate outside it. Delivering a purchase to you therefore involves transferring your name, email address and order information across borders. Where the GDPR applies, those transfers rely on the transfer mechanisms our processors put in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
8. Retention
- Purchase records — kept while they are needed to support the purchase, honour the error-correction policy, and meet Korean tax and record-keeping obligations.
- Marketing list entries — kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, after which the address is removed from the list.
- Support correspondence — kept only as long as it is useful for handling the issue and any follow-up.
When data is no longer needed for any of these purposes, it is deleted.
9. Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to:
- be told what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access);
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data deleted (erasure), subject to records we must keep by law;
- have processing restricted while a dispute about it is resolved;
- receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable form;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out;
- lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email support@1600satlab.com. We answer within 30 days and we do not charge for it.
10. Your rights under the CCPA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purpose, and the categories of third parties it is disclosed to;
- request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to records we must keep by law;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
- not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights — you get the same product at the same price either way.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. Requests go to the same address: support@1600satlab.com.
11. Unsubscribing and deletion
To unsubscribe: every email we send carries an unsubscribe link in its footer. One click removes you from the list. You do not have to ask us, and we do not ask why.
To request deletion: email support@1600satlab.com from the address you want deleted, and say so. We remove the address from the mailing list and delete the personal data we hold, except for records of a purchase that we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes. We will tell you exactly what was kept and why.
Deleting your data does not withdraw the watermark from PDFs already delivered to you. Those files are in your possession, not ours, and the marks are part of the file.
12. Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. It has no advertising, tracking or preference cookies, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. When Google Analytics 4 is activated it will set its own measurement cookies, and this section will be updated to say so before that happens. Paddle's checkout sets the cookies it needs to process a transaction.
13. Children's privacy
Our material is written for students preparing for a college entrance exam, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, email support@1600satlab.com and we will delete it. Where local law sets a higher age for consent to online services, a parent or guardian should make the purchase.
14. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy. When we do, the “last updated” date at the top of this page changes. If a revision materially changes how we handle data already collected, we will say so to anyone on the mailing list before it takes effect.
15. Contact
Any privacy question, access request or deletion request: support@1600satlab.com.
